STRUCTURAL ’TIME CAPSULE’ FROM 1893 UNCOVERED AT TRINITY CHURCH

Many of us remember the heavy rains not long ago which led to significant flooding in the the office area and lower level parish hall.  A project to correct an architectural flaw in the church’s roof and to upgrade its capacity for drainage is nearing its completion.  Access had to be provided inside the Ambulatory wall near the restrooms so the new, larger drain pipe could be installed.  Trinity†St. Peter’s esteemed Archivist, Jennifer Dwight, provided this photo which shows an amazingly intricate, sturdy wall structure that has not seen the light of day since 1893. We hope you will take a look the next time you’re at the church, as this structural ’time capsule’ will soon be again obscured by new plaster and paint.
